京都の民間学童保育 THE HOPPA ROYAL KIDS！

Did you have a good Christmas? It is already the new year!
I will show you the New year’s card we sent out this year!
こんにちは！アリーです！元気ですか？
京都は寒いです！ううう～🥶
みんな、素敵なクリスマスを過ごしたかな？もう新年だね！
今年のロイヤルキッズの年賀状を紹介するね！
It looks a little blank right? We let the students decorate a portion of the card by themselves！
They were so happy to receive the New Year’s card in the post at the start of the year.
空白があるでしょう？そこは、子どもたちが自分で色を塗ってデコレーションしたよ！
新年にこの年賀状を受け取れて嬉しかったことでしょうね♪
Even though it is the new year, let’s reflect on what happened toward the end of the year.
すでに新年を迎えちゃったけど、年末にどんなことをしたか紹介するね！
★★ROYAL DINNER : CHRISTMAS PARTY★★
ロイヤルディナー：クリスマス会
＊ロイヤルディナーは、月に1度、食を通じて学びを深めてもらうためのイベントです！
Tensions were high as we started our Christmas party!
クリスマス会が始まると、みんなのテンションはHIGH！！
We made Santa hats! Did you realize the shape of a Santa hat is a cone? The students made their own compass and created the round outline for the hat shape. After everything was cut, the students taped the hat into a cone while adding the fluff on top! They look so cute!
まずはサンタの帽子を作ったよ！サンタの帽子の形は円錐のような形かな？子どもたちは自分でコンパスを作って円を描いては、はさみでカット！
We also played Christmas songs with some bells. The student split up the pitches by student. Mrs. Hinoshita was the conductor.
次に、ハンドベルでクリスマスの曲を奏でたよ♪子どもたちはベルの担当を決めて、日ノ下先生の指揮に合わせて…🎵

そのとおり！ジングルベルだね！
We had our Christmas themed Royal Dinner with a big rotisserie chicken. Everyone’s plate was licked clean!
そして、クリスマスをテーマにした夕食の時間♪大きなローストチキンが登場！みんなペロっと食べました♪
They slept well that night and could not wait for Christmas Day.
忘れられない1日になったね♪
I think you are connecting the dots, but it is winter time and that means school is out for the holidays and we have WINTER SCHOOL！
また、学校が冬休みの間、私たちはウインタースクールを開催しています！
For those who do not know, I want to tell you about how the students do their winter break homework from school.
We make time to work on it every day and check the students work. We help the one-day students also!
初めてブログを読む方もいると思いますので紹介しますね！
まず、毎日学校の宿題に取り組む時間を作っていて、子どもたちの進み具合を確認しています。
I will share a little taste of what we do during winter school.
ウインタースクールでは、1日2時間の日替わりアクティビティの時間があります。
その様子をシェアするね！
★★WINTER SCHOOL HIGHLIGHT：Preparing to making a SHIMENAWA and the process★★
ウインタースクールの振り返り：しめ縄作りの準備
In order to make our Royal-style SHIMENAWA, we needed to get pinecones. The day before we went to Gosho park on a mission to get pinecones!
しめ縄を作るために、材料が必要です！しめ縄作りの前日には京都御苑へ行き、材料をゲットしてきました！
Of course, we let the children be children and run in the open area. It was a good sweat!
もちろん、子どもたちらしく、走ったり遊んだりもします。いい汗かいた～！
We found lots of pinecones and got to explore the smells the leaves. We picked up the fallen pine leaves and cut them in hald to smell them! The students kept saying, “It smells like Christmas trees!”
たくさんのまつぼっくりを見つけました！葉っぱも見つけたよ！どんなにおいかな～？
かいでみると…「クリスマスのにおいがする！」だって😊
On the day of making the SHIMENAWA, the students took on the challenge of unwinding a spool of rope to make the base of the SHIMENAWA!
しめ縄作り当日、子どもたちは しめ縄の土台作りからスタート。麻ひもをほどいて、自分の両手を広げたくらいの長さの束を作ります！
They enjoyed braiding the strings together. The older students loved helping the younger ones.
一緒にひもを編むことを楽しみました！上の学年の子は、下の学年の子のお手伝いもしてくれたよ！
After the wreath was made, the students went to town decorating! The children had many chances to show their creativity with the pinecones they found while learning about Japanese culture. 😊
しめ縄の土台ができたら、飾りつけの作業！子どもたちは、日本の文化に触れながら、前日拾ったまつぼっくりを使って想像力豊かに自分だけのオリジナルしめ縄を完成させたよ♪
